Selecting the Right Bird!

Selecting the right species of bird is a matter you want to give a good deal of careful thought to. After all, we're talking a sizeable commitment of love, time and money here. It's a decision that shouldn't be entered into lightly or impulsively. There are a number of issues to consider; the size of the bird, the dietary requirements and the noise level are all matter you want to think about beforehand. Additionally, there are personal preferences you may have. Is talking ability an important consideration for you? Really beautiful, eye-catching color? Or just a sweet, cuddly disposition?

Lutino Indian RingneckDifferent species have different things going for them. That doesn't mean that these great attributes are mutually exclusive between various species, just that certain birds are known for certain talents or characteristics more than other birds. Cockatoos are known for their snuggly, affectionate natures, not for their talking ability, but that doesn't mean they can't be taught to talk at all. Amazons are known for their talking and singing ability, but that doesn't mean they can't also become loving, affectionate companions, and so on. Birds seem to rise to the occasion, when the effort is made with them.

We hope reading the thumbnail personality profiles of the birds we breed will give a little insight into their natures, and we will be happy to discuss in further detail any questions you may have, as well as issues such as cage size requirements, etc.
