Macaws The majestic macaws! From the huge greenwing to the smallest member of the family, the Hahn's, these flamboyant showoffs share the same characteristics: they are intelligent, playful, outgoing birds. The beautiful, almost gaudy coloration of the greenwings, scarlets and blue & golds, combined with their impressive size, make them a real eyeful. Personality-wise, they are a handful. They love food, they love toys, they love life! And they can sometimes make some noise letting the world know. The "mini-macaws" are not quite as colorful but not quite as loud, either, and have smaller space requirements; the adorable Hahn's is about the size of a conure, but with the attitude of a much larger bird. Macaws are very dexterous birds and are good at tricks. They love to chew and tear up their toys. They have moderately good talking ability, and if handled consistently and properly they make affectionate, well-behaved pets.
