Amazons Amazons are the wise-guys of the bird world. (We mean this in a good way!) Amazons are strong-willed, somewhat volatile birds who have a (we think overstated) reputation for moodiness. That being said, they are also extremely intelligent, beautiful, very talented talkers who can be sweet and affectionate, when they feel like it. We're not bad-mouthing Amazons; actually, they're our favorite birds. We're just trying to be honest. Some people say they are unpredictable. We say when their eyes are blazing and their tail feathers are flaring, don't put your face up close for a kiss. In other words, learn to read their body language. Let them be and play with them later when they're more in the mood. These birds are extroverts-sooner rather than later they'll be in the mood. It's true they can be a little, shall we say, feisty at times, but they can also be noisily exuberant, fun-loving, life-of-the-party types. When all is said and done, these birds can make excellent pets. As we said, they're our favorites.
